Rest in Peace, my sweet Pablo

Dear Fan Club Members and friends of Pablo,

It is with a very heavy heart that I announce that we are in deep mourning at the Pablo Fan Club headquarters this morning. We just heard that our brave mentor and great friend Pablo was helped to the Bridge this morning (which was 12 hours ago in tomorrow).

Kate and Nick and little Alex now have a Pablo sized hole in their hearts. Everyone please send your strongest purrs all the way to tomorrow for them. Kate was a fantastic servant to Pablo over the years. Since he had so many responsibilities, it was imperative that he find such an efficient human assistant. Kate took her role very seriously and served faithfully ever since he was a young cat.

Pablo, you will be greatly missed.

New lounging spots

Dear Pablo and everyday,

For Christmas, Joey and I got this nice roomy box fort. It's a great place to hang out and relax during the day. Joey thinks there's room enough for both of us, but I definitely don't agree.

There's just enough room for one, as you can clearly see.

Since I'm in the fort right now, Joey found a cozy snuggle spot on the bags that Tracy brings home the food in. I might try that out later this evening.

Pablo, we hope that you are snuggling in your favorite spots today, now that you're back home from the VET place. We love you.

Purrrrrrrrrrrrsssss.....

So boooooorrred

This is what Phoebe and I do most of the time these days. Both Denis and Tracy spend most of the evenings over at grandma's house. Denis comes home to sleep at night, but Tracy only comes here for a little while.

They say it won't be much longer that Tracy will come back home.

Tracy doesn't live here anymore

She just comes to visit and leaves again. She keeps taking more of her stuff when she goes. I have watched her out the window to see where she is going. She walks over to grandma's house and stays in there.

I was very worried, so I asked Denis if he and Tracy are splitting up. He said, "no, she's just staying with grandma to help her after her surgery. She'll be back in a few weeks."

What a relief! I'm so glad that grandma is ok after her big operation. I hope I can see her soon.

~Joey "hey, where's Tracy going? When's she going to play with the bird?!"

~Phoebe "oh brother!"

Wet food

Dear everycat,

Joey here. One of my new duties as co-chairfeline is to oversee the food supply in the PFC headquarters. Monica used to see to that and I assisted her from time to time, but now it's up to me. My main technique of communicating a need for a food dish refill is a strategically timed bite to a human extremity. Toes and forearms are very effective.

Well, recently I did some research on the innernets about kitties and kidney disease. I learned that we are very efficient at getting a lot of our daily liquid needs from our food. Kitties normally don't drink a lot of water because they get it from their food. Kitties that only eat dry food may be in a constant state of dehydration, according to my sources. So I requested Tracy to check out some of this wet stuff and see what it's all about.

So far, Phoebe and I really like the chicken flavor and the salmon kind, but the others are pretty good. So we decided that we will keep this up for good kidney health. We eat some I'm the morning and some in the evening. I think that it's helping Phoebe and I get along better. She doesn't growl at me when we are eating.

Hey, Pablo! This cat looks kinda like you and me! Doncha think?

Grandma's in the hospital

Hello furriends. I just wanted to let you know that our Grandma is in the hospital today. She had a surgery on her heart. It's called "atrial valve replacement and double bypass". I asked Tracy if I could go visit Grandma in the hospital, but she said that we can't get any furs into her operation, so I have to stay home. I can go visit Grandma when she is back home in about a week. Tracy's not sure how much we will get to blog in the next few days.

Big announcement!

Hi everycat!

Joey here with my Big Announcement. I've been promoted! Phoebe, Tracy and I had an important PFC meeting and determined that I will replace Monica as a co-chairfeline. I am honored and will do my best to fill her paws.

To get started, I did some editing in our layout and the fan club membership roll. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to one of our senior members, Princess, who went to Rainbow Bridge within a week of Monica. We welcome her little brother Pierro. Hi Pierro!

Who's this?

Like Joey mentioned yesterday, we don't have access to Tracy's computer right now, but I have something to show you that is on our phone camera. We have a new friend here at the PFC headquarters. What do you think?

I think he's a boy, but he doesn't have a name. Any suggestions?he's a quiet guy, but he's pretty handsome.

Here we are posing in profile.

Welcome to 2010!

Hi, everycat! This is Joey here. Tracy, Denis, Phoebe and I all want to thank you so much for your very nice messages of support while we adjust to not having Monica with us any more. It took us a while, but we are getting back to our routine around here.

There is just one problem, Tracy's computer is not working very well right now. She says that we can't get any of the pictures out of our camera right now so that we can do much blogging. This is not fair because I have some very important news to tell you all.

For now, we can only get pictures from Tracy's phone, so they are not the best quality. But they will have to do.This one was before Christmas. I was inspecting the tree to make sure Denis picked out a good one.

Phoebe helped with wrapping the presents.

And here are Phoebe and I. We've been holding some serious conferences about important PFC business. I'm hoping that I can make our announcement soon.

Sad times

Dear friends,

This is Phoebe telling you all some sad news. Monica has gone on to Rainbow Bridge. She was peacefully helped to go there on Friday morning after becoming really sick over just the last week.

We all noticed that Monica was not hanging out with us very much on Tuesday. She was spending more time than usual lounging on Tracy and Denis' bed instead of watching TV. Tracy suspected that something was wrong when Monica wouldn't even chase our lazer light toy, cause that is her favoritest toy of all. On Wednesday, Denis took her to the V.E.T. and they found she had lost 2 lbs in just a month. She was dehydrated, so they gave her some subQ fluids and drew some blood. That evening, we hoped that she would perk up like I did when I got fluids when I was sick. But she didn't really perk up. She was very tired and didn't eat much that evening.

Thursday morning, Denis got the report from the V.E.T. that Monica's kidney labs were very bad. In his experience, a kitty with labs as bad as hers do not respond to treatment very well, so it was not much of an option to try to do agressive treatment. Besides, Monica was never a very good patient, and Tracy thinks that she would not have been very happy to get pills and fluids, even more unhappy than I was when I was sick. So Thursday evening, we all spent some very nice quiet time together. Tracy and Denis helped Monica get a drink from the tub faucet like she liked as often as she wanted and we all slept in the big bed with them that night.

They took her to Rainbow Bridge at 8 AM on Friday, so that she wouldn't have to spend all day feeling badly, especially with Denis and Tracy at work and not home to help her.

Monica was a very good sister and kept our house in good order. Last night, Tracy and I read our whole entire blog and remembered all our happy times over the last two years. Today, I am staying near Tracy and purring for her extra hard to keep her company. Joey and I will have to sort out how the responsibilities that Monica carried will be divided between us two. We will do our best to keep things in order around here.

Good bye Monica.

Food Experiments

Hi Every cat! It's certainly been a long time since I posted anything on the Pablo Fan Club blog and I'm sorry for that. I wanted to take a moment to tell you all about an interesting experiment that we conducted recently.

You see, Tracy had been switching our foods willy-nilly and it was very confusing. Here you can see me and Phoebe looking at this new food and wondering why it was different.

Here are the two foods in question:

Science Diet for indoor cats is a big triangle food that we had been eating for a few weeks.

Then, one day all of a sudden, Tracy brought home this regular Science Diet food for adult cats. It is a small circle food that we had eaten in the past before they ever made the triangle food.

Well, we decided to do a very scientific food preference survey and decide for once and for all which food we would have at the Pablo Fan Club headquarters. Here are the two side-by-side, ready for voting.

Three out of three of Pablo Fan Club members surveyed preferred the triangle food. That's 100%! Talk about a landslide... Power to the cats! Tracy is complying with the Pablo Fan club decision and buying the triangle food ever since.
